Things from the Flood

Stålenhag’s narrative art returns to an alternate Mälaröarna shaped by the Loop, a vast technological project and its aftermath. Familiar roads, houses and weather give the impossible machinery its weight. As the final bearing, the book asks how Sweden can be recognised after its landscape has been bent by speculative history. The work is visually led, but its unease grows from the ordinary scale of memory.
